SANTA CLARA, Calif. (April 14) – After securing his eighth podium finish of the 2015 AMA Monster Energy Supercross season, GEICO/AMSOIL/Honda 450SX rider Eli Tomac is looking to improve those stats by adding his third win of the season at Levi Stadium in Santa Clara.
“It’s a long season and you tend to get caught up in the weekly grind,” Tomac said. “As a racer you want to win every event. That’s what you train for – that’s always your goal, but you can’t win every race and you can’t always win the championship. Ryan (Dungey) has had a great season. He hasn’t made many mistakes and he has stayed healthy. He won the title straight up.
“At this point, you look at what’s left, and I see three races I’d really like to win. I was halfway bumming about coming in third in Houston, and then one of my best friends reminded me that was our eighth podium finish of the season and two of those were wins. That’s pretty good and it kind of put things in perspective. We’ve had a really good year.”
With the 2015 championship already decided, Tomac is excited to head into a new venue with no added expectations weighing on him. Always ready to put his best effort forward, Tomac is more than ready to show the crowd in Santa Clara what he has on top of his GEICO/AMSOIL/Honda.
“It’s always fun going to a brand-new place,” Tomac said. “We’re all on equal footing, and it will be fun to just race with no championship pressure. I love the fans up there. They’re really loyal to GEICO and Honda and they love Supercross, so it will be a good time.”
Live coverage of the event starts Saturday, April 18 at 10 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1.
