SANTA CLARA, Calif. (April 14) – After recording a podium and top-10 finish during the Monster Energy Supercross race in Houston last week, GEICO/AMSOIL/Honda 250SX riders Malcolm Stewart and Matt Bisceglia are ready to get to Levi Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., to build on their recent success.
“There will definitely be some time for recovery this week,” Stewart said. “I smashed my face pretty hard in P3, and I was still buzzing from that when the night program started. I had times where I rode really well, but then I also ended up on the ground, so it was kind of hit or miss for me. It was definitely the hardest I’ve ever worked for a third-place finish.
“I want another win. We only have two more West Series races, in Santa Clara and Vegas, so I want to get it rolling as soon as possible and win again. The last time we were in the Bay Area I got to the top step, so maybe that place will be my sweet spot.”
Despite wanting better results from last weekend, Bisceglia is still proud of the way he rode. Wanting to build on that momentum, he is anxious to get to Santa Clara and see what it has to offer.
“I’m not planning on changing anything,” Bisceglia said. “We didn’t finish where we wanted to in Houston, but I was really pleased with the way I rode and the pace I had. It was great to be back on the bike after two months off, and I was pumped to get the holeshot in the main. I just need a little touch of luck and I should be on the podium.
“This stadium looks super nice. I’ve only seen it on TV with the 49ers playing football, but from everything I hear the place is first-class. We’ll see if we can’t dirty it up a little bit.”
Live coverage of the event starts Saturday, April 18 at 10 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1.
