In partnership with the U.S. Air Force Scheuring Speed Sports is bringing its race transporter and race sleds to local high schools and secondary schools to showcase the technology the team uses on their AMSOIL Ski-Doo race sleds, Ford F150 support vehicles and race transporter. The purpose of these visits is to show students some of the opportunities joining the U.S. Air Force can afford them as well as showcase some of the team’s snowmobiles.
“We get the students excited for snocross racing in their area, and when they get a chance to see a professional team at their school as well as go inside a race transporter, it is a great experience for them. We award a ‘Race to the Future Scholarship’ at each school to a deserving student who wants to excel in technology. To date we have given out over $10,000 in scholarships across the United States. It is a great honor to partner with the U.S. Air Force and help them in their mission to attract the brightest and best students to become part of the world’s greatest Air Force,” said team owner Steve Scheuring.
Prior to the AMSOIL Duluth National this past weekend, the team and crew made stops at Two Harbors and Denfeld high schools, in Minnesota. Students were given the opportunity to go inside the race trailer and see the sleds that raced in Duluth. In addition staff picked a student at each school who was awarded a $200 scholarship.
“We’re coming out to talk about some of the technologies we can offer as far as training in the United States Air Force, and then we give the kids a chance to see some of the snowmobiles before we have the snocross event in Duluth next weekend,” said Travis Layman, Technical Sergeant.
