MORGANTOWN, W.Va (Sept. 20, 2016) – N-Fab/Maxxis/AmPro Yamaha/Lonestar/MXP’s Walker Fowler heads into the Rocky Mountain ATV/MC Mountaineer Run GNCC with a total of six overall wins in the 2016 AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) Series presented by Maxxis, an AMA National Championship. While Fowler is in a favorable position to earn a second National Championship, the fifth annual Mountaineer Run GNCC win and the title still remain anyone’s to claim.adam mcgill mountaineer prep

One rider who will be looking to steal the top spot from Fowler is CST/LSR/Induction Solutions/DeRisi/SG/Tire Blocks’ Adam McGill. McGill, a West Virginia native, is well aware of the conditions that will be present this weekend, Sept. 24 and 25, at Marvin’s Mountain Top where he took the overall win back in 2015. After a disappointing seventh place finish just two weeks ago in New York at the Unadilla GNCC, McGill will be looking for redemption in front of his hometown crowd. However, the rise to success will not be easy as Fowler heads into this weekend fresh off his commanding win in New York where he beat his closest competition by nearly two minutes.

Maxxis/Fly Racing/HMF/Ye Olde Cycle Barn/Suzuki’s Chris Borich has only finished outside of the top-five once this year, but still lacks an overall win. The six-time champion recently acquired a new trainer, and this could serve as the extra push Borich needs in order to claim his first victory of the season. Coastal Racing/MSR/Maxxis’ Brycen Neal is facing a similar situation as Borich where he has multiple podium finishes, but no wins thus far. Both Borich and Neal will be on the hunt this weekend for the number one spot.

McClure has produced consistent results this season and will aim to use his Unadilla finish as motivation to make his bid for another podium finish or the overall win this Saturday.

After battling with McClure in New York until he faced illness, N-Fab/Maxxis/AmPro Yamaha/Lonestar/MXP’s Cole Richardson will be back in the mix this weekend. Richardson placed an impressive sixth overall at the Mountaineer Run GNCC in 2015 while competing in the XC2 Pro-Am class, and will use that knowledge to his advantage moving into this weekend.

This weekend is co-sanctioned with WEXCR, a series that produces local racing events in Ohio and West Virginia, and will ultimately bring out a full slate of local racers. All local racers are invited to compete at this event, as GNCC Racing offers classes for riders of all skill and experience levels. The amateur race entry fee is $40 and riders can sign up at the track. To learn more about GNCC Racing please visit the GNCC101 webpage.
