Justin BogleDAYTONA, Fla. (March 3) – Moving to the next stop on the Monster Energy Supercross East Series, defending 250 champion Justin Bogle and GEICO/AMSOIL/Honda rookies R.J. Hampshire and Jordon Smith are confident their upcoming trip to Daytona International Speedway will be a successful one.

“Daytona is quite a bit different of a track than we had the past couple of races,” Bogle said. “I like that place, though. I have had bad luck there and I’ve ridden well there, so it’ll be interesting to see how this trip goes.

“I want to go in there with a fresh slate. I do want to carry momentum from Atlanta to Daytona and be standing in the middle of the podium this time. I’m not going to complain about any podium finish. I love the podium, but I love being in the middle (in first place) most of all.”

GEICO/AMSOIL/Honda teammate Hampshire has more incentive to maintain his initial Supercross success. Returning to his home state, Hampshire thinks he may have a slight advantage over the competition.

“I’m super excited for this weekend’s race in Daytona,” Hampshire said. “It’s a hometown race for me, which doesn’t get much better. I definitely want to be able to have one of my best showings since I’ll be in front of a lot of familiar faces.

“I like riding in the sand a lot as well, so we’ll see how it goes. Hopefully, I can move up the leaderboard more than I have the past few weeks.”

After making his Supercross debut last weekend in Atlanta, Smith feels like he will be better prepared for the next time he gets on his bike.

“I learned a lot from my first race in Atlanta that I hope to apply this weekend in Daytona,” Smith said. “The main thing is not to force the issue. I have to let the race come to me and not override. It’s going to be more about riding the track, finding its speed and being smart. If I do all that, the results should back it up.”

Live coverage of the event starts at 7 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1.
