If you care at all about diesel vehicles, and chances are you do considering you’re reading this, you know the industry has undergone a recent change.
The new API CK-4 and FA-4 diesel oil specifications have taken effect, replacing the outgoing API CJ-4 spec that was the industry standard for a decade.
We shared the details already, but the gist of it is this: the two new specs raise the bar for diesel engine oil performance, delivering improved wear protection, thermal stability, resistance to oil consumption and fuel efficiency. This should translate into a longer-lasting, better-performing diesel engine in your rig.
Check out this infographic we made to help explain the benefits of the new specs.
Where are AMSOIL diesel oils?
As you can imagine, people have been asking, “When will AMSOIL have new diesel oils that meet the new specs?”
Wait no longer. They’re now available.
Expectations are made to be broken
Like I said, the new API CK-4 and FA-4 specs require diesel engine oils to perform better than ever, setting minimum performance standards oils must meet. But we know you’re not satisfied with minimum.
That’s why we formulated new AMSOIL Signature Series Max-Duty Synthetic Diesel Oil to deliver even better wear protection…6X better, to be exact. It’s available in 5W-30, 0W-40, 5W-40 and 15W-40 viscosities.
• 6X more engine protection*
• Significantly exceed industry requirements
• Full OEM specification coverage
• Reduced oil consumption
• Exceptional cold-temperature performance
It performs so well, you can use it for drain intervals beyond those specified by your original equipment manufacturer (OEM) if you choose.
Heavy-Duty On-/Off-Road Diesel Engines: 3X OEM recommendation, not to exceed 60,000 miles, 600 hours or one year, whichever comes first.
Turbodiesel Pickups: 2X OEM recommendation, not to exceed 25,000 miles or one year, whichever comes first.
Gasoline Engines: 2X OEM recommendation, not to exceed 15,000 miles or one year, whichever comes first.
We’ve also introduced AMSOIL Heavy-Duty Synthetic Diesel Oil, which provides outstanding protection and performance for customers seeking an upgrade over conventional and other synthetic diesel oils. Available in 10W-30, 5W-40 and 15W-40 viscosities, highlights include…
• 4X more engine protection*
• Excellent opportunity for price-conscious customers to move up to AMSOIL quality
• Reduced oil consumption
• It’s recommended for OEM-recommended drain intervals.
Which is right for me?
I posed this question to Product Manager – Heavy Duty Mark Nyholm, who owns a turbodiesel pickup and whose boundless diesel knowledge helped deliver these products kicking and screaming into the world.
“Whichever I find lying around for free back there,” he said, nodding toward the production area.
That doesn’t work for you, unfortunately. But here are the crib notes of his real response: First, ask yourself what you’re doing with your diesel. Are you driving on the highway to work and back? Towing a work trailer full of tools? Lugging a 53-foot trailer across North America? Modifying the engine for more power and competing on weekends?
For most drivers, AMSOIL Heavy-Duty Synthetic Diesel Oil is perfect, especially if you’re still using conventional oil and want to make the switch to synthetic. It’s a great combination of outstanding wear protection and reduced oil consumption at a price you’re used to paying.
Then there’s the guy who won’t rest until his turbodiesel makes 2,000 ft. lb. of torque. The guy who follows Diesel Power Challenge and the Ultimate Callout Challenge like other people follow President Trump’s twitter account. The driver who pushes his rig to the ragged edge and demands an oil tough enough to keep up.
AMSOIL Signature Series Max-Duty Synthetic Diesel Oil is your oil. It delivers 6X more engine protection*, fights oil consumption and resists extreme heat and cold. We poured thousands of hours of research and engineering into Signature Series Max-Duty Synthetic Diesel Oil so diesel lovers who live for massive power and torque can rest assured their rigs are protected.
It’s also great for truckers who want to save a little extra money by safely going longer between oil changes.
